Bob led the Tigers during the Big West season, posting a team-high .333 average. Following the season, Saunders was named to the All-Big West Second Team as a utility player. In two seasons, Saunders finished with a combined average of .288.<b>2005 (Junior):</b> <p>Another of the Tigers' clubhouse leaders, Saunders is the emotional leader of the Tigers. Bob's junior season was cut short as he suffered a season-ending injury in the Tigers' 5-2 loss to San Francisco on Mar. 4 as he broke his right fibia. Saunders has made a full recovery and will be ready for the 2006 season. Bob finished 2005 with a .226 average, seven hits and six RBI in just 10 games. On three occasions, Saunders delivered a career-high two hits. He helped the Tigers to a 10-9 win over UCLA on Feb. 27 with a 2-for-5 showing at the plate with an RBI. Saunders kick started a late rally with a lead-off single to start the ninth inning. Bob tied his career-high of two RBI when he drove in two of the Tigers six runs as Pacific defeated Saint Mary's at the River City Classic 6-5 in 11 innings on Feb. 11. Saunders helped send the game into extra innings with a one out RBI single to tie the score up at 4-4. Saunders was 2-for-5 with two RBI in the Tigers' 11-2 win over Nevada on Feb. 6. The day before, Saunders collected two hits in his first game as a Tiger in Pacific's 1-0 loss to the Wolf Pack on Feb. 5.<b>Junior College:</b> <p>Bob came to Pacific after two seasons at Sierra JC, where he played with fellow Tiger, Tyler McCready. Saunders finished the 2004 season with an impressive .351 average, driving home 27 RBI and grabbing six doubles. A contact hitter, Saunders struck out just 19 times in 273 at-bats over two seasons with Sierra JC. As a freshman at Sierra, Saunders finished the season with a .252 average, 22 RBI and eight stolen bases. Following the 2004 season, Saunders was named to the All-BVC (Bay Valley Conference) First Team.<b>High School:</b> <p>Saunders graduated from Bishop O'Dowd High School in Oakland, Calif. in 2001. As a member of the Dragons, Bob won four letters in baseball, earning a spot on the All-HAAL (Hayward Area Athletic League) Team in both his junior and senior seasons.<b>Personal:</b> <p> Robert Saunders is the son of Chris and Hatti Saunders. He has two siblings, Meg (28) and Natalie (26). In his third year at Pacific, Bob is a sport sciences major.
